Cougars, Wang claim SCIL net titles

Sparta's Andrew Wang four-peated as a boys' singles tennis champion on Saturday is Sparta at the SCIL Tennis Festival. Kittatinny, led by Art Wilk who won the third singles tournament, captured the team title. Wang claimed his fourth individual title when he coasted to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Pope John's Baris Aldanmez in the No. 1 singles bracket, winning by scores of 6-3, 6-0. Wilk defeated Pope John's Chris Schwork 6-4, 7-5 in the third singles championship finale as the Cougars edged the Lions 12-10 for team title with Sparta finishing third with seven points. The Cougars swept the doubles competition with the top tandem of Sam Case and Jan Ozoa coming back to topple Sparta's Mike Centrelli and Spencer Lake 6-4, 0-6, 6-4. The No. 2 duo of C.J. Centrelli and Ian Wallace bested Pope John's team of Mike DeOre and Bryan Ross 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). Pope John's Kelsey Falkowski repeated as a singles champion by defeating Kittatnny's Tony Santonaso 6-3, 6-1 in the second singles competition.
